Recognizing and honoring Nicholas DeBenedictis for his 18 years of service as Chairman of the Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau Board of Directors.

 

Body

WHEREAS, Nicholas DeBenedictis has served as Chair of the Philadelphia Convention and Visitor Bureau (PHLCVB) and a leader in the region’s tourism and hospitality industry for nearly two decades; and

 

WHEREAS, Nicholas has been a key figure in the PHLCVB’s efforts to attract and secure large-scale special events to Philadelphia, including the 2015 World Meeting of Families and Papal Visit, 2016 Democratic National Convention, 2017 NFL Draft, 2026 MLB All-Star Game, and FIFA World Cup 2026; and

 

WHEREAS, Nicholas was instrumental in guiding the PHLCVB through the difficulties of the COVID-19 pandemic, a time when the tourism and hospitality industry was impacted exponentially; and

 

WHEREAS, His support helped ensure the PHLCVB continued to be a strong resource for Philadelphia’s tourism community; now, therefore, be it

 

RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That it hereby extends to Nicholas DeBenedictis its sincere and grateful appreciation for his dedicated service to the Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau, congratuations on his accomplishments and best wishes for continued success in the years to come.

 

FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to the Nicholas DeBenedictis, further evidencing the sincere admiration and respect of this legislative body.
